Scroll down to find the one called MySQL, right-click it, and select “Restart”. This will open a list of services that run on your Windows system. To do this, click the Start button and type Services, and click on the app that shows up like this: ![]() Once you’ve made the change to the MySQL configuration file, you need to restart the MySQL service on your Windows machine to let the changes take effect. Change the port number – the procedure is the same as that for the Linux file. Chances are, it’ll be located in the first folder, but check them all in case you don’t get it on the first try. In all these locations, the file can be called “my.ini” or “my.cnf”.
